The newest album of alternative music act Dinosaur Jr. has been unearthed, and every fan of the genre is beyond excited to hear new material from them after five years! This year, the group is generously sharing their shows with every music fan, and you can hear their exciting new music at the Ace of Spades on Tuesday, 20th October 2026!
Coming to California this fall with fellow alternative music artist Stef Chura, fans can expect a meaningful revival of the Massachusetts trio’s music! This will be their first album since their 2021 release Sweep It Into Space swept every fan off their feet, and they look forward to reuniting with their longtime listeners. Releasing their newest single named Several Got Away makes it clear that Dinosaur Jr. are not letting their fans get away from their in-demand fall tour! Going around the country with new material, everyone knows that these three musicians have become music legends for their extra loud live sets! Revealing a sentiment about their song, J Mascis shared that he’s not always sure what a song means when he makes it, even sharing, “I guess the meaning will present itself at some point.” Now with their newest album named There Near, Dinosaur Jr.’s upcoming live performances will prove that they were able to keep their sound and loyal fanbase by staying true to their themes and lyrics throughout the years!
Formed in 1984, Dinosaur Jr. is widely regarded for their highly influential use of feedback and distortion on their recorded tracks and live shows that have become very significant in the sound of alternative music. Before this year, their 12 studio albums have allowed them to make a specific identity that does not concede to mainstream music quality and instead has allowed them to have a sound described by critics as “wasn’t exactly pop, wasn’t exactly punk rock” but, like the members intended, “was completely its own thing”. They have become an artistic influence on Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Blink-182, as well as Radiohead.
