Headliner

Atreyu

Atreyu is a rock and metalcore band from California, America. Formed in 1998, the band changed their name from “Retribution” to “Atreyu”, a name taken from a character in Michael Ende's 1979 fantasy book The Neverending Story. The name change marked the band’s new lineup and music development. The original lineup included lead vocalist Alex Varkatzas, guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel, bassist Kyle Stanley, and eventually brought on Brandon Saller as their drummer. Atreyu released two EPs, Visions (1998) and Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty (2001), before signing a record deal with Victory Records. In 2002, the band released their debut album, Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, with singles "Ain't Love Grand" and "Lip Gloss and Black".

The rock band’s second album, The Curse, was released in 2004. The album has become Atreyu’s most notable and legendary album of all time, with almost half a million copies sold. The Curse peaked at number 32 on the US Billboard 200, and No. 1 on US Independent Albums, making it a Gold certified record. The album is home to three incredible singles, "Bleeding Mascara", "Right Side of the Bed", and "The Crimson". Atreyu was featured on the soundtrack to two cult and pop classic movies, Mr. and Mrs. Smith with the cover of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name”, and Underworld: Evolution with “Her Portrait is Black”.

Following the success of their second album, Atreyu released their third album, A Death-Grip on Yesterday, in 2006, which peaked at number 9 on the US Billboard 200. In 2007, Atreyu signed a new deal with Hollywood Records for America and Roadrunner Records for a global deal. Under the new labels, they released two albums, Lead Sails Paper Anchor (2007) and Congregation of the Damned (2009), the first being a Gold certified record. During these years, Atreyu toured with heavyweight metal bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for My Valentine, Escape the Fate, The Sleeping, Architects, Megadeth, and As I Lay Dying.

In 2011, the band’s vocalist Alex Varkatzas announced the band’s need for a break. During this time, each band member took on new projects. In 2014, the band reunited once again and released a new single titled “So Others May Live”. The following year, Atreyu released their sixth album, Long Live, with the single “Long Live” on YouTube. Between 2018 and 2025, the rock band released three albums — In Our Wake (2018), Baptize (2021), and The Beautiful Dark of Life (2023) — and toured with the likes of Whitechapel, He Is Legend, and Ice Nine Kills.

To date, Atreyu has released six EPs and nine studio albums, of which two are Gold certified records. The band has a global fandom with over 1.4 Million listeners on Spotify monthly.
